We wanted to use our new embossing folders, so we found a nice tree one, and because my birthday is in the fall, I thought it would be nice to have a fall-themed thank-you card.
I had some gold-colored leaves to adorn the branches. But we found that when we placed the leaves onto the embossed paper, there wasn’t enough contrast between the branches and the background. So first, we tried to color them in by colored pencil, but that didn’t work, and it was very time consuming. Then Brandon had a brilliant idea where we went over the embossed paper with crayon, as shown in the video below, and that worked really well. So we did that for the rest of the cards.
The leaves are held onto the card by small brads, which we had a difficult time finding in Jo-Ann. The cards turned out to be quite elegant despite their simplicity, and they were well received.
